Guide for journalists covering the World Cup

The Society of Professional Journalists has created city-specific resource guides for reporters covering the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Access it here: Covering the World Cup: A City-by-City Guide

It features key contacts, safety resources and practical reporting tips. Because the World Cup is about far more than soccer, the guides are designed to support coverage across a wide range of beats, including politics, business, immigration, public safety, culture and community affairs.

SPJ Georgia coordinated this effort, especially Mitch Leff, Kim Woodcock Speece, Lee Peters and Katja Ridderbusch.

Big thank you to other SPJ chapters and volunteers who contributed local reporting guides, including SPJ Houston, SPJ Florida, SPJ New England, and SPJ National immediate past president Emily Bloch and her colleagues at The Philadelphia Inquirer.
