How to Join

Joining our chapter can be done in as few as two steps. College students must submit additional materials, please read on.

  1. Join or renew your membership with SPJ National by going to https://www.spj.org/joinapp.asp.
  2. If you are a college student in Georgia, make sure to select one of the options under “Student” when indicating Membership Type.
  3. Under Local Chapter Dues, check the box “I wish to pay my local chapter dues of $25 for the SPJ Georgia Pro Chapter.” If you are a student, select your student chapter in the dropdown menu.

Applications for Collegiate Pro Membership

To join SPJ Georgia as a college student, you must also email an application to spjgeorgia@gmail.com. Please refer to the list below to ensure your application is complete.

  1. Links to three articles published online; or, three links to audio or video broadcast work.
  2. A letter of recommendation from a professor, employer or someone in the journalism field.
  3. A 250 word essay on why you would like to become a SPJ Georgia Collegiate Pro member.
  4. A professional headshot of yourself.
