SPJ Georgia starts series on covering extremist groups and militias April 13

The aim of the series is three-fold; to educate Georgia journalists about who the groups are and what they believe in with a particular emphasis on the Peach State, a rundown on organizations who are keeping tabs on them and assessing their threat level and how journalists can cover them effectively and safely.

On April 13th, Chris Joyner and Tia Mitchell from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution will join us in a conversation about how safely report on these extremist groups.

Series Panelists: Susan Corke, Intelligence Project director at Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC); Chris Joyner, Atlanta Journal-Constitution investigative reporter; Tia Mitchell, Atlanta Journal-Constitution D.C. correspondent; Amy Landiorio, investigative researcher with the Anti-Defamation League (ADL); Henry Schuster, 60 Minutes producer.
