SPJ Georgia hosted a free Facebook Training for Journalists webinar on April 18 to help teach Georgia journalists how to better access their communities amidst COVID-19. 

The webinar, led by industry pro Kyle Foster, included tips on advanced searching, going live with community members to answer their questions, and accessing community groups to source stories and share them. 

Foster discussed examples of organizations utilizing Facebook’s tools well to cover the global pandemic. Examples include USA Today’s Coronavirus Watch and a Facebook support group for journalists you can join here. 

The webinar encouraged journalists to meet their audiences where they’re having conversations: in groups and in comment sections.
